The Indie Scene
Alongside major productions, a key pillar of the Polish game industry is developing dynamically – the indie game scene. This is where experimentation happens most often, where new forms of expression are explored, and where fresh ideas are brought into the industry.
SUPERHOT comes from Poland - a game in which time moves only when you move. This is where Carrion was created – a metroidvania in which the player becomes the monster. Poland is also the home of Papetura, Timberborn, Against the Storm, Manor Lords, and Book of Demons, as well as The Riftbreaker, The Invincible, and many others.
The indie scene is also about festivals, game jams, and small teams working after hours, often without large budgets but with enormous determination. This is where new styles, mechanics, and ways of storytelling are born - later finding their way into bigger productions.
Today, hundreds of independent studios operate in Poland. What unites them is one thing: creativity, courage, and artistic freedom. This is where ideas are born that later reshape the entire industry.
