Timberborn
Developed by the independent Polish studio Mechanistry, Timberborn is an innovative city-builder set in a post-apocalyptic world, where humanity has vanished and intelligent, industrious beavers have taken its place. The game combines colony management, advanced fluid and construction physics, and a distinctive “lumberpunk” aesthetic.
Players lead one of two beaver factions – the nature-loving Folktails or the industrial Iron Teeth – facing challenges such as drought, pollution, and limited resources. Success depends on building dams, canals, aqueducts, and complex wooden and metal machinery, as well as on strategic vertical expansion through layered settlements, platforms, and bridges that make the most of available space.
The game’s mechanics revolve around fluid physics and terraforming. Players can reshape terrain, redirect rivers, and construct monumental dams to maintain balance between drought and abundance. Over time, they must master not only the management of wood – the foundation of beaver civilization – but also the discovery of metal and the development of advanced production technologies.

Timberborn stands out for its unique “lumberpunk” vision, where wood becomes the cornerstone of progress and industrial machinery blends harmoniously with nature. The world is brought to life through meticulous details: tireless beavers, multi-level wooden cities, and water wheels turning rhythmically as rivers flow through the landscape.
The game has been praised by critics and players alike for its original combination of city-building, survival themes, and imaginative world design, confirming that Polish developers can create games that are both ambitious and globally distinctive.
