Fire Fight

Chaos Works, 1996

Developed by the Polish studio Chaos Works, Fire Fight was one of the most ambitious projects in Poland’s emerging game industry of the 1990s. Created by Janusz Pelc and Maciej Miąsik - the duo behind Electro Body - the game was released worldwide by the American publisher Electronic Arts. It marked a breakthrough moment: the first time a Polish title reached global distribution under one of the largest brands in the video game industry.

Fire Fight is an isometric shoot 'em up that blends fast-paced action with tactical precision and a distinctive futuristic atmosphere. Players pilot a heavily armed combat craft through a series of missions across diverse planetary environments - from sprawling cities to remote industrial colonies. Alongside its narrative-driven single-player campaign, the game featured an exceptionally well-designed multiplayer mode. Network play via LAN or modem was remarkably smooth and stable, earning praise for its technical sophistication at the time.

With its detailed isometric graphics, dynamic lighting effects, and energetic soundtrack, Fire Fight matched the production quality of leading Western releases. Its publication by Electronic Arts became a symbolic milestone for the Polish game industry - a confident step onto the global stage and lasting proof of the creative and technical talent driving Polish developers in the mid-1990s.
